Eastern Alabama offers the perfect weather and climate for golf lovers who want to play all year long. Daphne, Alabama, sits in Baldwin County and along the Eastern Shore, where you'll also find Fairhope, Point Clear, and Spanish Fort. All of these cities have golf courses where you can enjoy a round of golf and spend time outside. Take a look at the top golf courses near Daphne.

1. Lake Forest Golf Course

Lake Forest Golf Course is an Earl Stone-designed course. It features Champion Bermuda greens and Bermuda fairways with a variety of elevation changes. The course is ideal for players of every level from beginner to expert, and it has tees for all ages. The Lake Forest Country club maintains two courses for its members. The Forest 18 is a championship course with a par 72 rating. The Lake 9 is a regulation nine-hole course with a par of 35. 

If you want to work on your game, Lake Forest has putting greens, a large driving range, and a practice bunker with a chipping green. The club's PGA professional Steve Jernudd and the assistant Scott Quinby are around when you want tips or a lesson. It also offers junior golf for younger players. The kids can take lessons, join group clinics, and work on their game. If you want to test your skills in a competition, the course hosts tournaments for social players and competitive golfers throughout the year.

Lake Forest is also home to the 19th Hole Restaurant and a pro shop where you can find everything you need for a day of golf. 

2. Rock Creek Golf Club

Rock Creek Golf Club sits in Baldwin County on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay and is one of the best Southern Alabama golf courses. It was designed by Earl Stone and features a layout that golfers of all levels can enjoy. Rock Creek is a fun course and is player-friendly whether you are a Daphne area local or a visitor. 

Everyone who plays here enjoys the fairways lined with beautiful trees and the large landing areas. This is a championship golf course that features large undulating greens in a wide variety of shapes, and it has putting surfaces designed for all levels of play. The natural rolling terrain provides elevation changes creating a unique challenge found only on a southern Alabama course.

Rock Creek Golf Club consistently receives a 4.5-star rating from Golf Digest and hosts several prestigious tournaments throughout the year. 

3. TimberCreek Golf Club

TimberCreek Golf Club in Daphne offers players 27 holes of championship golf. Another course in the area designed by Earl Stone, TimberCreek has three nine-hole courses for players of all abilities. All the courses offer scenic views of the rolling fairways lined with Alabama Dogwoods, pines, and Magnolia trees. You'll encounter elevation changes and wetland preserves along the way, and don't be surprised if you see some local wildlife too.

  • Magnolia Course
  • Dogwood Course
  • Pines Course

4. Quail Creek Golf Course

Quail Creek is a city-owned course in Fairhope, Alabama. It sits just a few miles from the downtown area off Highway 181, making it easily accessible. The 18-hole course is a regulation 72 par course featuring three lakes and over 40 sand traps. Players will enjoy well-manicured greens, a full-service Pro Shop, tee boxes, and a large driving range.

Walkers are welcome at Quail Creek, or you can rent an all-weather electric golf cart with a cooler, sand bottle, and club cover. This course has a practice putting green, a chipping green, and a practice bunker. If you're just getting started and don't have clubs, you can rent them right at the pro shop, which also offers club repair services and personal club fitting services.

5. Lakewood Golf Club

Lakewood Golf Club in Fairhope is part of the Grand Hotel Marriot Resort. It sits right on Mobile Bay with stunning views over the water. The two courses on the property include the following:

  • Dogwood course. This 18-hole course is 7,104 yards and a par 72 that meanders through pine and magnolia trees.
  • Azalea course. This 18-hole course ranges from 4,539 yards to 7,202 yards and features rolling fairways and beautifully groomed greens. 

Lakewood has an impressive pro shop with traditional golf gear for men and women. The full-service shop also has men's and women's locker rooms, offers bag storage, and provides club cleaning and repair. 

If you want to work on your game, Niall Fraser, the director of golf at the resort, and his team provide lessons and clinics for all ages. Younger players can also enjoy their time at Lakewood with the junior camps, tournaments, and clinics.

6. Heron Lakes Country Club

Heron Lakes Country Club in Mobile, Alabama, is an excellent place for the whole family to play golf. The 18-hole course is challenging for both novice players and experienced golfers, so everyone can have some fun. Heron Lakes is a semiprivate club with the original course designed by Harold Stallings in 1954. Earl Stone designed four additional holes in 2000, and all 18 greens were renovated in 2004 when the club converted to Champion Bermuda grass. 

The course features four sets of tees so golfers of all levels can enjoy the game, and the club has an active tournament schedule with events for both the competitive and social player. 

Whether you are just getting started and need some help learning how to play, or you want some expert tips to improve your game, the club has an excellent practice area where you can take lessons or join a clinic. The practice area features a 300-yard driving range, practice bunkers, and a two-tiered putting green. 

The Pro Shop is a licensed club-fitting shop and carries Titleist, Cobra, Ping, and Callaway clubs.
